In this “Freshman Composition” course I learned how to analyze, summarize and evaluate written works. It’s helped me to understand argument writing and developed my reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. It’s also helped me to know how to quote an article and analyze quotes. For example, I read an article “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan. A direct quote from “Mother Tongue” is” The fact that department stores, bank, and at the restaurant did not take her seriously, did not give her good service, pretend not to understand her, or even if act as they did not hear her” This quote goes on Amy Tan use her article “Mother Tongue” to explain to the readers how her mother “broken English” affected to her life and because of that people would see her differently.
